Seniors:  Please verify your name for your diploma in the office.

K2TV will be here on Friday at the Douglas Bearcats vs Lander Tigers football game.  They are looking for their "FAN OF THE WEEK".  Who ever is selected as the fan of the week will be featured on their news cast.  Please come to the game decked out as the biggest bearcat fan.

Please congratulate Richelle Hughes, Carolyn Smylie, Tricia Jensen, and Athena Cook for their participation in Destination Imagination Global Finals 2008 at the University of Tennessee this past May!

Powder River Coal Scholarship Opportunities:
$2,000.00 per semester for books, fees, and tuition
For students interested in Industrial Electronics, Diesel Technology, Welding Technology
Minimum GPA of 2.5 and must maintain a 3.0 during college
Work at one of the PRCC mines during the summer with the goal of an A.A.S. Degree (2 year degree of Associate of Applied Science) Applications are available in Guidance.

Upcoming dates of importance:
ASVAB:  Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery-----For Juniors and Seniors who are either interested in joining the military or just want to find out   more about interests, aptitudes, strengths, weaknesses…Wednesday, October 15, 8:10 - 11:00, upper aud, FREE

PSAT:  Practice test for juniors for the SAT----For Juniors who are 4-year college bound…Wednesday, October 15, 8:10 - 11:00, back gym, $13.00 due to Guidance (only 40 tests available) by Monday, October 13.

ACT:  Saturday, October 25th, back gym.

Any senior thinking of completing graduation requirements by the end of the 1st semester needs to complete a form from the Guidance Office.

The next Karma meeting will be Thursday, October 9th, during A lunch in the guidance office.

Junior Class is having a chili feed for the home football game this Friday to raise money for prom.  The suggested donation price is $5.00.  Please share this information with your family, and bring your appetites.  GO BEARCATS!

Special Olympics student volunteers:  Permission slips are due to the Guidance Office by Monday, Oct. 6.

Council Meeting Monday, October 6th during 5th hour in Mr. Sutphin's room.  Very important that all student council members attend!!

Student Council shirts are ready - shirts cost $15.00 each please pay Mrs. Seeds ASAP.

Signs up for all Homecoming week activities will begin today during lunches - If you have any questions please see a student council member or talk to Mrs. Seeds.  Sign ups will continue through next week and will be located in Mrs. Seeds' room.

We will once again offer flu vaccine to Douglas High School Students at ½ price!  The vaccine will be available at the Converse Co. Health Department, 442 Center, by appointment, 358-2536.  Students age 18 or older may attend the Flu Vaccine Clinic for School Staff on Wednesday, October 29th at Douglas Rec. Center from 2-5pm.  The cost of the flu vaccine is $20 and will be split between Converse County School District #1 and you.  If you are interested in having your student vaccinated please call the clinic and set up an appointment.  Students under the age of 18 must have a parent accompany them to their appointment or have the attached waiver signed by a parent/guardian and bring to the appointment with $10.  The deadline to receive your flu shot is December 19th, 2008.   If you should have any questions please contact the Douglas High School Activities Office, 358-4040.

Any Junior/Senior interested in attending Technology Day at the Eastern Wyoming College campus in Torrington on November 6th can go to the EWC website at ewc.wy.edu and register. If you have questions, stop in the guidance office.
