For anyone who took the ASVAB there will be an interpretation meeting with Sgt. Peterson from The Wyoming Army National Guard on Friday, October 31st at 1:30 in the upper aud.

 

Support your DHS Bearcats!  During lunch today buy a button to show your support for our football team.  You can get our previously made styles for $2 or personalize it for $3.  Personalized orders will be taken today and delivered on Friday.

 

National Honor Society will meet Wednesday, 11/5, at 11:30 in the upper aud for election of officers.

 

Any Junior/Senior interested in attending Technology Day at the Eastern Wyoming College campus in Torrington on November 6th can go to the EWC website at ewc.wy.edu and register. If you have questions, stop in the guidance office.

 

Any senior interested in playing Division 1 or 2 sports at the collegiate level needs to be registered with the NCAA Clearinghouse ASAP.  See Guidance!!!

 

A UW admissions rep will be here at DHS on Tuesday, November 18th from 9:00 - 1:00 for Early Admission Day. Stop in the Guidance Office and sign up for a 15 minute appointment. The admissions rep. will be in the media center to meet with students. You will need to bring a completed UW application, a transcript, and $40.00 for the application fee. 

 

Any girls interested in playing basketball and want the team shoes, please see Dena Christiansen in the Activities office.

 

All freshman and non-fall sport people interested in wrestling—there will be an optional practice Monday, 11/3, after school in the wrestling room.

 

SENIORS:  Monday, November 3rd, during all lunches, a college representative from Northwest Community College in Powell, WY, will be in the Commons to answer any questions you may have.

The CAT TRACKS is having a photo contest.  Anyone interested will need to have entries in by October 31st.  The theme is life at DHS.  The prize is a McDonald’s gift card.

Please report to the Back Gym between 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m.  Testing will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at approximately 11:45 a.m.  Approved calculators are permitted.  Please, no food or drink in the testing room.  Bring a heavy coat since it could be a bit cool in the gym.  Eat a nutritious breakfast.  Please see Guidance if you have any questions.

The Fun Club is calling for a "White Out" at the game vs Buffalo this Friday night at 7:00.  Everyone wear WHITE to the game and show support for your Bearcats!

Gear -Up is meeting this Thursday, October 16th during 7th hour in the upper aud.

 

A UW admissions rep will be here at DHS on Tuesday, November 18th from 9:00 - 1:00 for Early Admission Day. Stop in the Guidance Office and sign up for a 15 minute appointment. The admissions rep. will be in the media center to meet with students. You will need to bring a completed UW application, a transcript, and $40.00 for the application fee.

A tutoring program is starting for all interested DHS students. Starting October 14th there will be a tutor available in the media center on Tuesdays/Thursdays from 6:00 - 7:30 pm and Wednesdays from 3:30 - 5:00 pm.

REMINDER:  BEAT students who plan on volunteering to assist with the Special Olympics activities on Oct. 16 and 17 needs to have their permission slips returned to the Guidance Office ASAP!!!

Health Department, 442 Center, by appointment, 358-2536.  Students age 18 or older may attend the Flu Vaccine Clinic for School Staff on Wednesday, October 29th at Douglas Rec. Center from 2-5pm.  The cost of the flu vaccine is $20 and will be split between Converse County School District #1 and you.  If you are interested in having your student vaccinated please call the clinic and set up an appointment.  Students under the age of 18 must have a parent accompany them to their appointment or have the attached waiver signed by a parent/guardian and bring to the appointment with $10.  The deadline to receive your flu shot is December 19th, 2008.   If you should have any questions please contact the Douglas High School Activities Office, 358-4040.

$2,000.00 per semester for books, fees, and tuition
For students interested in Industrial Electronics, Diesel Technology, Welding Technology
Minimum GPA of 2.5 and must maintain a 3.0 during college
Work at one of the PRCC mines during the summer with the goal of an A.A.S. Degree (2 year degree of Associate of Applied Science) Applications are available in Guidance.

Any senior thinking of completing graduation requirements by the end of the 1st semester needs to complete a form from the Guidance Office.

The next Karma meeting will be Thursday, October 9th, during A lunch in the guidance office.

Junior Class is having a chili feed for the home football game this Friday to raise money for prom.  The suggested donation price is $5.00.  Please share this information with your family, and bring your appetites.  GO BEARCATS!

We will once again offer flu vaccine to Douglas High School Students at ½ price!  The vaccine will be available at the Converse Co. Health Department, 442 Center, by appointment, 358-2536.  Students age 18 or older may attend the Flu Vaccine Clinic for School Staff on Wednesday, October 29th at Douglas Rec. Center from 2-5pm.  The cost of the flu vaccine is $20 and will be split between Converse County School District #1 and you.  If you are interested in having your student vaccinated please call the clinic and set up an appointment.  Students under the age of 18 must have a parent accompany them to their appointment or have the attached waiver signed by a parent/guardian and bring to the appointment with $10.  The deadline to receive your flu shot is December 19th, 2008.   If you should have any questions please contact the Douglas High School Activities Office, 358-4040.

For B.E.A.T. students who volunteered to assist with Special Olympics:  There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 1, during your SSR time.  Those students will need to report to the upper aud.
